The Daily fix of Blurb: Volume I
I must say, I just checked out Pandora’s blog and I love the way they organize their posts. It’s like a series, for instance “Music For life: Volume 45: Music as food, part 2.” It just sounds cool.
So I’m going to title my stuff like that. I guess.
Anyways, today I wanted to talk about my faith. More specifically, I wanted to talk about salvation.
If you’re a non-believer, or heck, even a Christian, if you listen to enough Christians you’ll start to get confused on what salvation is. Some will say that you have to go to church every day and read your Bible all the time, if you do that you’re a great person and you’ll go up into heaven. Others will say that you should ask for forgiveness every time you sin. Yet some will even go to the extent of saying that if you’re a Christian, you no longer sin. Period. Yet then there are others who say that as long as you love Christ, and trust in him as your savior, you will be saved. Let’s check out what the Bible has to say.
First, we know that Jesus in the one and only way into heaven:
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
—John 14:6
In John 3:16, something I’m pretty sure most of us are familiar with, the Bible clearly states that we shall have everlasting life if we love and believe in God.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
So, it appears, from this verse at least, that Salvation comes from Faith in Christ alone. However, someone who believes either that Christians never sin anymore, or something along those lines, may quote a few verses like
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
and
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
—Romans 6:23
But in reality, it’s simply not true. These verses are merely stating that we are brand new creations in God, that we are saved and that we will have eternal life. Let me quote a very wise man and say this:
A saved man stumbles into sin and despises it, a wicked man dives into sin and enjoys it.
Also, take this verse into account:
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
—Ephesians 2:8-9
Works. What are works, exactly? Well, works, quite simply, are anything you could possibly do. Whether it’s praying, going to Church, reading the Bible, whatever. Salvation is not based on works. It’s based on faith. It’s based on our love for our Creator, our Savior, our King, and our Father.
Let me give you a real-life example:
Let’s say that a teenager has just received his drivers license. His parents tell him that he shouldn’t drive the car without them with him, but he had plans to go to a concert with his friends that night. His parents tell him they don’t want to go and say he should stay home. That doesn’t stop him from sneaking out at night, though. He ends up getting out and having a great time with his friends, all while his parents are asleep. He’s on his way back home, and everything’s going great. But then he hits something. That something is the neighbors mailbox. He jumps out to check the damage, and finds that not only did he rip the mailbox from the ground, he left a HUGE dent in the car.
Do you think his parents would still love him? Of course. Unless you’re horrible parents who never really cared in the first place, you’d still love your son. You’d be frustrated, of course. But you’d still love him. He’d be in trouble, of course. But you’d still love him.
God is your Father. He loves you.
Think about it.
(Sorry if my presentation and everything is garbage, I’m so totally not meant to be a pastor. ;P)
Hey.
Hey guys. I’m pretty new to the blogging scene, I just recently started a blog over at tumblr, but realized I needed something a bit more…Hefty. Tumblr is great for small posts with videos and pictures, but not really for long posts.
Anyways, a bit about me. Not to much, that’s boring.
I’m a 14 year old Highschool student who’s interested in Linguistics, writing, music and gaming. I’m also beginning to learn HTML coding, which I found out is actually pretty dang fun. I’m also a musician, if you want to see my music you can go to either thesixtyone or virb. I also occasionally make Machinima and Live Action videos. If you want to check that out go to youtube.
So, now onto what I plan to post on here.
If it all goes to plan and I stay active on here, I plan on posting my opinions on current happenings, occasional updates on my music and videos, and pretty much anything I find to be interesting enough to share with other people. I know I’ve probably bored any of you who’ve just read this, and I’m sorry I didn’t write something interesting. If I did actually write something interesting, I don’t know how. Lol.
I don’t think I’ll write anything more on here tonight, but if you want a bit more reading about me you can go to my aforementioned tumblog.
